This morning me and my mum took her to the vet where we were told they could try several things like putting her on fluids or testing her kidneys, liver, and pancreas but it was highly unlikely any good would come of it. she was 11 years and one month old, a very good age for her breed and she had had a good and happy life, extending it by 24 hours when she was in such a bad state would have been cruel and self serving.
She left this world at 10:47am the fifth of May 2009.
She was a very precious animal to me, and people who have known me in recent years probably wouldnt have known this since i didn't seem to care for her much of late, but in truth it was her who helped me deal with my fear of dogs and her who brought our second dog charlie into the world.
In her long life she did so many things, she was born a runt and wasnt expected to live, but by the time she was 2 she had had her first litter of puppies, one of which went to our cousin to be their family pet, one of which was stillborn, one stayed with us, and the other two went on to be show dogs. three years later she had her second litter, again of four puppies, all of which were sold as pets.
The only dog like thing she ever did in her life was catch one rat, over 7 years ago, and bury one bone, less than a month ago.
She always smelt like wet dog, and used to try to swim before we put her in the water, she had a runny nose and matted ears, we used to clip her fur in summer and the yard would be covered with fluff for a week.
The one thing she did the most though was snore, even when she was a tiny 10 week old puppy she snored loud enough to wake the whole house.
The saddest thing, and most typical of her, was even full minutes after she was gone, the last sound she made was to snore once more.
I loved you Tilley, i just wish i had appreciated to as well.
